ShareThisIt’s been one year since Maui County restricted use of plastic bags. Kauai followed and the Hawai`i County council made a similar recommendation last year. With the legislative session gearing up, advocates are pushing for a statewide law to bring O`ahu into the mix and deal with some unforeseen problems the plastic bag bans created. The goal is to reduce waste and costs for businesses, and maybe even make the state some money.
