ShareThisFor 40 years "Hawaii Calls" broadcast from under the banyan tree at the Moana Hotel. The half-hour music show eventually aired internationally on 450 stations. Derrick Malama recently uncovered the special "Hawaii Calls" program aired the day after statehood on August 22nd 1959.

Hoku Nominated Natalie Ai Kamauu

ShareThisThe eclectic career of Natalie Ai Kamauu has spanned hula, Swedish-dance music, and traditional Hawaiian. The talented entertainer is up for two Hoku Awards this year - one for Female Vocalist and another for Favorite Entertainer. She wrote or co-wrote six of the titles on her newest musical collaboration, `I, with her husband and co-producer, Iolani Kamauu.

Kupaoa Debuts New Album: Pili o Ke Ao

ShareThisHawaiian music duo Kupaoa has been called "spicy, soothing, and alluring all at once." The Hawaii-born newcomers Kellen Paik and Lihau Hannahs combine talents on their debut CD: Pili o ke Ao. Kupaoa recently performed in HPR's Atherton Studio and Derrick Malama started off the interview by asking about the album's title track.

C & K 35 Back in the Day
