- About Us
Next week, Santana performs its first public concerts in the islands in more than a decade. Ahead of the shows, Carlos Santana talked with HPR’s Dave Lawrence. In the second half of our interview, he spoke about the importance of heroes in his life… who have remained consistent through the years.
Later this week, keyboardist and songwriter from The Doors, Ray Manzarek, returns to Hawai`i – this time doing a four-island tour with slide guitarist/producer Roy Rogers. HPR’s Dave Lawrence spoke with him ahead of the visit. Unlike Scott Caan from TV show Hawai`i 5-0, Manzarek said he's a big fan of Hawaiian food.
New York musician Mark Rivera is Billy Joel’s longtime sax player, and, has worked with three of the four Beatles. As Music Director for Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, he wraps up our All Things Considered interview series ahead of their Asia Pacific tour, and began by sharing with HPR's Dave Lawrence his experience working for John Lennon.
Santana's tour brings him to Hawai`i for a pair of shows next month, his first public island performances in fifteen years. This afternoon we present the first in two extended interview segments on All Things Considered as host Dave Lawrence speaks with Carlos Santana about his upcoming concerts, latest album Shape Shifter and more.
Keyboardist and vocalist Gregg Rolie earned his place in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Santana. He went on to be a member of Journey and last year joined Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band. In our All Things Considered series ahead of their Asia Pacific tour, he explained to HPR’s Dave Lawrence how band-members share a powerful bond relating to The Beatles.
