AUGUST 29: Call to artists for "The 10th International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition." Entries must be received by August 29, 2008. Organized by the University of Hawaii Art Gallery, this triennial traveling exhibition is intended to serve as a vehicle of communication among sculptors in many parts of the world. Central to the exhibition’s concept is the challenge of creating works on a small scale which maintain integrity and control of sculptural elements. By considering the size of a shoebox, artists show how they address the challenge of scale. Open to artists worldwide. No entry fee. An exhibition catalogue will be published. Initial exhibition at the University of Hawaii Art Gallery to be held March 1 – April 9, 2009.
